That Time Again
Here we are again. It is November and we have all been subject to an endless stream of lies from people who want power and money and all that comes with it. It is election time and an endless number of people are sounding the trumpet about the villainy of the politicians. Is it enough to make me want to vote? Not at all. Does it cause me a bit of agitation as I watch and witness the scandals unfold in November to secure a chair that gives terrible people access to the things no one should have access to.
It was a pleasant surprise as I read my Bible this morning and Psalm 37 provided some calm to my soul in these tumultuous waters.
In those first seven verses we have such wonderful wisdom as:
— Fret not thyself because of evil doers...
— Trust in the Lord and do good...
— Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart..
— Rest in the Lord... Fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way...
These were seven verses designed to calm the unsettled spirit. I read them and felt peace wash over me. I already had no intention to vote and have ignored the, "This is the most important election of our lifetime..." shills screaming again. I already felt better this morning with my decision to avoid wading into the cesspit of infamy voting for villains brings.
Then Psalm 37 drops this peace bomb in verse 11, "But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace."
It is this peace the faithful Christian experiences when they get saved. They have peace with God because the enmity was crucified 2,000 years ago. The wicked and the evil spend endless amounts of money and time to agitate and spin people up, but believers should be immune to their efforts and at peace.
In verse 16 the Psalm says this even more clear and succinctly, "A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked." The politicians and those who toot their horns cannot buy the calm and riches I have received from my faith in Jesus. They are the sons and daughters of Simon the Magician and they cannot even see it.
There are many more words of comfort and wisdom in the Psalm, but as it nears its conclusion we have these gems:
— Wait on the Lord and keep his way
— Mark the perfect man, and behold the upright; for the end of that man is peace.
In a world gone crazy, the man who reads his Bible every day has the best chance of maintaining his sanity and seeing through the charade. Stay true Saints. The world may be in turmoil, but you are secure. Do not let them spin you up and turn you away from the Perfect Man. We know more than they do, but they can know what we know because it is not a secret.
