Slaves Asking For More

"Please sir, I want some more," were the words spoken by little Oliver Twist to the cook as he sought additional gruel to feed his hunger. These words have taken the world by storm ever since and a form of them are often parodied in the free market of ideas and expression.

Those citizens, who are the constant target of politicians and their enforcement agents, seeking "police reforms" sound like Twist. There is nothing wrong with Twist wanting more food. He was in an unfair situation, of which he had no control over, and he was hungry.  Likewise, people realize the police are not their friends, and in response they seek redress. Much like asking for a little more food, asking to reform the police is like asking them to not beat you with anything bigger than two inches in diameter. It completely misses the point.

Should the police be beating you period, with anything at all? Should the police have the power to restrain you, take you into custody, restrict your access to aid and threaten you with even greater fines and charges if you do not comply with their wishes, simply because they wear a badge and have been empowered by the State to control the public?

Asking for reforms from the man holding the whip and chains is utterly foolish.

Demanding the end to the police is the only intelligent solution to police abuse. The State should not possess the power to write law, adjudicate law, and enforce it at the same time. This balance of power is all on the States side and you and me, we got nothing but mailed fists in our pockets to pay for our own masters and their luxurious lifestyles.

Do not seek reform! Seek the end of the police. It can be done better in the hands of private people. Do not allow the State the power of slavery because they will use it.
